About Us

Fuse is a law firm with a difference. While business law underpins most of what we do, that’s just where we get started. We provide advice that is legally sound, commercially focused and deliberately free of jargon and pretence.

We are a good fit for businesses that want to grow. If you have an idea flickering, tell us about it – we’ll give it room to grow. If you’re stumped, tell us why – we thrive on a challenge. We can present you with options ranging from conservative to adventurous, but nothing that we can’t achieve.

Our people take their work very seriously, but not themselves. We want our clients to leave a meeting at Fuse feeling confident in our ability and comfortable to call us at any time.

The way we work is open and collaborative. Our reputation is at stake and we make no bones about wanting to protect it – the beneficiaries are our clients. If something isn’t viable, we’ll say. If you’re feeling unsure, we’ll press pause and step you through our rationale – it’s critical to us that you’re comfortable. Our billing is clear and fair.

Team

“Well known and respected in Australian business”

“Practical insights combined with intellectual rigour”

Team

Chris Burrell

Principal

Regarded by some as the law’s avant-garde, Chris achieved self-acclaimed fame by being one of the first law practices to ditch the tired old practice of time billing, sending the legal fraternity into a frenzy.

In addition to causing chaos, Chris’ expertise is in commercial and corporate law, projects and infrastructure and employment law.

He does stuff like ASX listings, reverse takeovers, capital raisings, mergers and acquisitions, front end/back-end infrastructure contracts, regulatory and compliance, and the odd unfair dismissal.

Chris’ claim to fame is winning a gold medal in basketball at the Australian Masters in 2013 (albeit he did stack the team).

Kate Cantrell

Senior Lawyer

Kate was the general commercial, property and intellectual property star of the firm, rising at the speed of light from junior lawyer to partner until she decided to have twins and relocate to the Gold Coast.

Having forgiven Kate for her selfishness and after putting her through a rigorous lumosity.com test to confirm she is not suffering from baby brain, it is great to have Kate back in the Fuse family.

So, if you are looking to do something with property, have a general commercial law query, or have a need for something IP, Kate is your go to woman.

Originally from far north of the border, Kate’s claim to fame is having survived 12 consecutive Victorian winters.
